Material Recovery Facility Update and Events

We are excited to announce that we have upgraded our Material Recovery Facility (MRF). We have installed an OCC (old corrugated container) screen and another baler to automate sorting cardboard. We also made an adjustment to our fiber optical sorter, so we can capture more paper for recycling. Here’s to recycling more materials!
To celebrate Wasatch Integrated’s 40th birthday this year, we are hosting an open house to tour our MRF on November 15th for city government, staff, and anyone who may be interested. This is a great opportunity for local leaders to see the recycling process, which will provide them with a better understanding of the importance of recycling. They will be able to better educate their communities about recycling when questions arise.
We also had the opportunity to attend a worthwhile conference this past month. A total of 13 people (board members and staff) attended WASTECON 2024 in Grapevine, Texas October 21-24. We learned about new technologies and best practices, including recycling sorting equipment, extended producer responsibility legislation, how the economy impacts the waste stream, AI technology on trucks, and much more.
