Spring in Action: Advancing Recycling and Reuse in Our Community

At Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District, 2026 is already off to a powerful start. We’ve hit the ground running with the launch of our EPA SWIFR grant work, laying the foundation for meaningful improvements to organics recycling infrastructure and access in our community.
In Farmington, we’re excited to support the rollout of a new curbside green waste recycling program making it easier for residents to recycle organic materials and reduce landfill waste.
Education continues to be a cornerstone of our mission. So far this school year, we’ve hosted 60 facility tours, giving nearly 4,000 students a firsthand look at how recycling and waste management work in real time. These experiences help build the next generation of informed, environmentally conscious leaders.
We’re also proud to have hosted our first Fix-It Clinic on April 18. With community members and volunteers, we repaired more than 30 items diverting nearly 150 pounds from the landfill. From clothing and lamps to suitcases and sewing machines, these repairs extended the life of everyday items and highlighted the value of reuse.
And we’re just getting started. We look forward to building on this momentum and making an even greater impact throughout the rest of 2026.
