Temporary Suspension of Cash Transactions at the Davis Landfill
Layton –In response to recommendations designed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District (Wasatch) will temporarily suspend cash transactions at the Davis Landfill in Layton, Utah. Effective Thursday, March 19, 2020, customers will be required to pay landfill fees via credit account, Debit card, or credit card. Wasatch accepts all major credit cards.
The health of our community, our customers, and our employees is our primary concern. By reducing or eliminating person to person contact during transactions we hope to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and other contagions.
Davis County Commissioner Bob Stevenson, Chair of the Wasatch Integrated Waste Management Board, said, “We’re taking this action now to protect our employees and members of the public. We continue to take direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State of Utah as we understand the seriousness of this pandemic.”
Wasatch’s Executive Director, Nathan Rich, said, “The landfill will remain open to residential customers as long as we can operate safely and support efforts to flatten the curve. We continue to monitor the situation closely and closing the facility to non-essential traffic is a potential we are currently planning for.”
It is critical that Wasatch maintains a core healthy staff so we can continue to provide essential services to city and commercial waste haulers. The Landfill Thrift Store is also temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice.
